Daisypath Anniversary tickers

25 February 2011

and the winner is...

First, we were tempted.
We even got to have a taste.

But tonight was FINALLY the night...
WE GOT TO SEE RANGO!!!!
Yes, thanks to "The World Famous KROQ" (a local radio station), Andrea and I got to see an advanced screening!!!!
look at this awesome souvenir!
I was shocked at the win considering I had entered the contest only the day before getting the call informing me about winning. I got so excited that I had to tell somebody (see last post).
And our little family is turning out to be quite lucky because Andrea won a pair of tickets to a concert while we were waiting for the movie to start. Life's pretty good!
Congrats to Jill for being the closest with out going over!
The prize will be en route.

a surprise for tomorrow!!!!

So we haven't gotten around to posting what we did last weekend, but I'm pretty excited about what I JUST found out we're doing tomorrow!!!!

I haven't told Andrea yet, so I can't say what it is, but as a hint it's been mentioned at least twice on the blog before.

Any guesses? I suppose I could come up with a prize if anyone gets it right :D

STAY TUNED TO FIND OUT WHAT IT IS!

Celebrate Andrea: Day Two

Day Two of Andrea-Fest began with the Santa Monica Farmers' Market.

We wandered around and were given the opportunity to go the red carpet premier of Rango and a screening of some romantic film, but weren't able to go to either :(

(Andrea is convinced the guy told us about the Rango thing because I was wearing the Mr. Timms shirt I won - see the First Friday - Venice post
)

We couldn't go to Rango because you had to bring a 7 to 9 year old boy (to populate the background of paparazzi pictures we were told), and we couldn't go to the screening because Andrea wouldn't get off work in time.

After checking out the market and the TOTALLY overpriced but delicious food (hooray for samples!), we decided we needed to eat some food so we wouldn't famish! Thankfully Andrea's boss told her all about this great place in Santa Monica so Andrea already knew where we NEEDED to go: Huckleberry.

After a delightful brunch
we headed back to the 3rd Street Promenade, which is a shopping area in Santa Monica that Andrea wanted to check out.

I don't know why she'd want to go there, they had an Urban Outfitter and Anthropologie. It's not like she loves those places to death or anything.

On our way to check out the shops we ran into Jamie Oliver and his Food Revolution!

This was pretty cool since we watched the first season of the show, and I even have one of his cook books.
(Here's Andrea's new shirt - her first LA shirt in her ever growing city-shirt collection)

Little did we know when we stumbled upon this event that we would witness the last episode of the upcoming season. This may make the little competition they had a little anti-climatic since we know who won

but I'm sure we'll watch it anyway.

And what's this? Jamie Lee Curtis showed up?

To give away the trophy, of course!

After everything wrapped up we made our way over to the only store that Andrea could love more than U.O. and Anthropologie combined and multiplied by a gajillion, Betsey Johnson.

Andrea has quite the little collection of Betsey wear, but I'm really proud of her because she gets it all on sale! Yup, that means that $300 jacket only cost her $60!!!

After such a long and eventful day she even found the strength to go to one of the 4 tokidoki stores that exist in the world and Juicy Couture (Juicy even decided to play her favorite song from way back when she was a freshman in high school). Some how she managed to walk out of those stores empty handed...

Celebrate Andrea: Day One

How do you make sure you get your proper yearly "me-day" when your birthday is the day after valentine's day?

How about when valentine's day is on a Monday and your birthday is on a Tuesday?

You get a little partying the weekend before and a little the weekend after, of course!

So this year we kicked off Andrea-fest with breaking her out of jail early (truth be told, she has half day every Friday at work, so this wasn't that big of a deal). BUT, when she finally made her way out she had a little surprise waiting for her in the car, A PRESENT!!

The little photographer already has a 4-lens camera and has taken such photos as:
,

,
and
!

She also found an app on the Android Market (ohhh, fancy!) for her new phone that lets her take lamography-like pictures such as:

!!!!!

So that's all nice and fancy, but what's a camera with out something to take a picture of? So off we went, and aided by Andrea's phone (thank you google maps!!!!) we avoided the horrendous (and compleatly normal) LA traffic on the freeway and Santa Monica Boulevard and instead took a detour along Sunset.

And FINALLY we made it to our very picturesque destination: the Griffiths Observatory!

As you can see it's got some great views, and I definitely recommend stopping by if you have the chance.

After the observatory we started our journey back and went by Amoeba Records, and just HAD to stop in (how could we not when this is what the outside looked like?).

I hate to say it and I'm sure they hate to hear it, but with how cheap and easy it is to get music online and a Netflix account it was not very much fun to peruse the merchandise. WITH THE EXCEPTIONS of the awesome posters they had (if they weren't so expensive I'm sure we would have left with a few), and they did have some cool collectors albums/magazines/junk, and even this little beauty:

After that little experience we headed off once again, this time toward the Volcom shop where I got a jacket and Andrea a shirt that we'd end up wearing on Day Two of our celebration.
