I don't know why but today seems like it's gonna be a great day

Oh Tuesday, when you first started out you seemed like just any other sub-par weekday.  When the alarm went off hours before I wanted it to and didn't have any milk so I had to have left over Teriyaki Chicken for breakfast things weren't looking too bright.

But then something happened!

I got to pick Andrea up from work for lunch and a small hunch brought us to a little gathering of L.A. food trucks that we'd been to before (see Andrea's bird-day lunch). I was totally unaware that this was a WEEKLY thing - now I know where I'm having lunch every Tuesday :)  With a little investigative research I even found out the name of the awesome live musical/visual entertainment that accompanies our meals - Brad and Suzi Cover Duo!!!!

Anyway, we feasted on Argentinian delights (one had a little Cuban inspiration - the El Fidel Empanada) while serenaded by Brad and Suzi.  Thus far a pretty nice day.

Then, when Andrea got home we went on a little jog/walk around a little bit of our neighborhood and saw some pretty awesome houses/views of LA and were happy to get some fresh air and exercise in the fabulous SoCal Spring weather.

THEN we stopped by the grocery store to get the much needed milk and found a bunch of prizes that were on sale!

What a great ending to a pretty fantastic day.

Oh yeah, when we got back they actually had hot chocolate in the lobby (this almost never happens and it's always a joyous occasion when it does) AND then when we checked the mail Andrea had a package from KROQ - she won a Black Keys CD!

I am officially a huge fan of KROQ (with a facebook "like" to prove it).  This is the 3rd thing we've collectively received from KROQ (1- I won prescreening tickets to Rango and while there 2 - Andrea won tickets to see the Dirty Heads).

Not a bad day.  The only things that would have been better would have been if Chuck had a new episode yesterday so we could have watched it on Hulu (Andrea's sad that last week was the season finale of Pretty Little Liars because they consist of our Tuesday night entertainment during dinner) or if our new netflix DVD would have come today instead of how it's supposed to come tomorrow.  Oh well, I guess we'll just have to have a semi-productive evening instead of watching a bunch of stuff all night...

we're off to see the sixers, the wonderful sixers play ball

So once we finally came home from vacation we went to see the Philadelphia 76ers come to town to take on the Los Angeles Clippers.

It was a good game, the sixers won.  I think these very strange metal pieces of "art" that can be found just outside the south-east entrance to the Staples Center are meant to represent the tears of the Clippers because they are perpetually losing.
Losing or not, if I had to choose an LA basket ball team to represent it would definitely be the Clippers, because it would be WAY better than the alternative.

what happens in Vegas goes on the internet

The soundclash was the main event, but it's not like we'd go all the way to Vegas and only go to a concert

even if Elvis did show up!
We checked out some of what Sin City had to offer such as the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas (fancy), which was pretty cool. Andrea even got the opportunity to check out the inside of a huge shoe!

We also stopped by the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens.

We made the mistake of going to eat fast food Filipino/Chinese food... blech, never again.

On the plus side the market that was attached to the little gastronomical nightmare had some gigantic pomelos that would be great to get a picture with:
It was all fine and nice, and then it came time to comeback home... yeah, never leaving Sunday morning ever again!  I think we were parked on the highway for at least an hour and rarely were going over 20 until we left Nevada.

soundCLASH

What could be more fun than seeing Cee Lo Green?

How about The Ting Tings?

What about seeing them play together, literally?

Yes, that would be OK.  It would probably have to be one of those red bull soundclash shows.

I might enjoy that, but it would be really cool if they play some songs by the Clash.

The only thing that would make that better would be if the tickets were only $15.

I guess we could go with somebody.

That would be fun!

Maybe someday...

traffic, traffic, lookin' for my chapstick

As we join our heroes once again, it's President's Day. Fresh from their journey to San Clemente, the next mission takes them to Malibu.
This is their first time and although it's rather close to their base, the traffic along the PCH can be a nightmare and is avoided (under 30 miles in over an hour? two lanes that resemble a parking lot? no thanks). Today, luckily, is smooth sailing the entire trip.
After shaking down all their informants, Andre and Andrea decide they will need to make their first stop the grand water falls of Escondido.
The hikers started out in good spirits, knowing little of what lay ahead.
Trudging through some of the most hideous and dangerous terrain.

they made their way where no man had set foot before.
Alone and completely detached from civilization and other human beings, they finally arrived at the grand falls.
It took only a short time to find what they were actually looking for, what the natives know as Lrrr or "he-who-sticks-face-out-of-ground."
Now that they found Lrr they could finally know the location of the Ndnd or "spinning-light-in-darkness." After the three met and information was exchanged for much needed supplies, our heroes made plans on what their next move should be. But nothing can ever be easy; as they are about to leave Andrea and Andre are ambushed by the robot space pirates they previously escaped thanks to an EMP blast. Fighting tooth an nail, they got pretty beaten up but made it out eventually.
Knowing the pirates would be hot on their trail the two headed strait for the shore; a place so deadly only one that knew the terrain like the back of their hand would survive the journey, so vile no one in their right mind would follow them.
Getting there was exactly as Andre and Andrea expected it would be: fraught with thieves, venomous wildlife and of course the most unbearable weather imaginable. When they finally got there it was even worse worse than expected: ugly as sin and the most wretched stretch of land in the whole region.
With barely any strength to go on Andre and Andrea found a dingy little place to eat so they could survive the rest of the mission.
Lrrr mentioned something about the great octopus, and Andrea knew exactly what that meant.
So having just eaten, the two made their way to the pier of St. Monique.
It didn't take as long as expected for them to actually find Ndnd, how could it be? It was, after all, a light in darkness. Almost as if it were beckoning to them in the night, there it lay, spinning, calling to them.

the O.C. Disorder

What a wonderful place:
good food,
good views,
what more could you want?
